Welcome to the website for the 12A Oregon Wolves

Welcome to the home page for the Oregon Wolves 12A (Holmes) Softball team. Last season as the “Tualatin” Wolves 10A (Holmes) team, we finished as the ASA Oregon 10A Championship runner up (2nd place). We are an aggressive, solid defensive and a hard hitting ball club that plays to win at the highest level. Our players are rewarded by having fun and winning when they commit to being the best they can be.

Our coaches this coming season will be among the most experienced and successful ASA and high school coaches anywhere. See complete coaching biographies at Coaches.

Assistant coach Roger Gray is one of the most experienced and outstanding hitting instructors among Oregon High School softball programs. Roger will be a full-time assistant coach for the Wolves beginning with fall ball. During his high school baseball and softball coaching career, Roger has helped to develop over 100 all conference (all–star) hitters and numerous collegiate level softball players. Roger is a former professional baseball pitcher and has a unique understanding of hitters from his extensive playing and coaching experience. Roger consistently delivers among the best hitting teams in all of Oregon high school softball and is looking forward to developing the most powerful and consistent hitters at the ASA 12A level this coming season for the Wolves. Roger believes “kids at the 12A level are at the right age and ability where they can both execute great hitting mechanics and learn how to approach each pitch in every inning.” Roger and Bill have enjoyed coaching together over the past two seasons at the high school level and are looking forward to making the 12A Wolves among the best in Oregon and the northwest.

Wolves assistant coach Dan Roisom, recently retired as the head coach of the Tualatin High School Varsity softball team will be a special consulting assistant for this team. Coach Roisom was the head coach at Tualatin High School for ten (10) years and the head coach at Tigard High School for ten (10) years prior to that. Coach Roisom has coached ASA softball for over ten (10) years and has over 400 wins at the high school level during his twenty (20) year career. Although coach Roisom will not be “full-time”, his presence will be felt as he assists in the teaching of solid softball fundamentals.

Bill Holmes is ready to continue building on last year’s 2nd place ASA 10A championship finish. Bill has coached at Tualatin High School over the past two seasons beginning as an assistant coach for the varsity softball team under head coach Dan Roisom (Pac 6 Conference Coach of the Year in 2008) and Roger Gray, and as the Tualatin High School JV head coach last season for his team that finished with a 16 – 4 record.

The goals of the Oregon Wolves for this coming season are to contend for the 12A state championship, play in 12A nationals and teach solid softball fundamentals that can be built upon as our players develop into impact high school and collegiate level competitors. In doing that, our players will learn good teamwork and sportsmanship, and have a fun and competitive experience that will translate into a year of lasting memories.

Since we are a 12A team and expect to play at the highest level of competition, our team will be made up of top players not only from Tualatin, but also from other parts of Oregon and Southwest Washington. All positions are open.

Our girls (and parents) are committed to improving their softball skills through offseason workouts, private hitting / pitching / catching instruction, as well as strength training and conditioning. To assist our players in their quest for excellence, the Wolves own a year round indoor hitting / fielding facility that is exclusively used for our players and team. Our facility is a 1,500 square foot fully netted and indoor carpeted cage with either one large or two tunnels perfect for hitting, pitching, catching, throwing and fielding.  During winter workouts, the Wolves also lease a larger indoor facility that the team uses for full infield practices, footwork fundamentals and positioning.

We are pleased to be able to provide all of the parents of our players with keys to the indoor facility so that off season / in season work on softball fundamentals, whether on their own or with their own individual instructors, is productive and comfortable. The maintenance of our facility is part of our continued commitment to excellence. See Facility for more information.

The 2009 season looks to be an exciting one. We expect to play Fall ball and then approximately 12 spring / summer tournaments, including State and Nationals. We also expect to play in at least one (after school is out) “out of town” tournament, such as Anaheim, California, where the girls (and families) can experience great softball and take in the local attractions together as a team.

We look forward to 2009 being our best Wolves season ever! Thanks for visiting our website. For more information regarding the Oregon Wolves, please feel free to contact Bill Holmes directly at wnholmes@pdxcpas.com.
